“Catfish Go Home” contemporary figurative painting

I’m floating around in most of my dreams (when I’m actually present in the dream), but I don’t know why this one image has stuck so much in my head.  I guess because it is relatively simply, and I’m just trying to play around with non-rational use of color.  I think the light coming in from the window makes this image problematic as far as a subject for non-rational color.  The light is a rational or natural element, so it keeps me from playing around with what I really want to.  The result is that the painting drifts toward a crude “naturalism” and consequently looks more like a cartoon than any sort of experiment with pure color.  Still, it does have a strange intensity.
