You can’t always be painting the painting you know how to paint. Sometimes you have to paint that other painting.

Sometimes I look at a painting and think I might be Elvis if not the savant playing the banjo in “Deliverance.”  Other times, I look at what I’ve done and see that I am just Steve Martin in “The Jerk.” I think I like this one quite a bit. I look at it and see a little of what’s coming next, and it excites me.
