“On Her Patio” contemporary figurative painting
I think I have worked out more of the format for “Riverson, The Painted Book.” I plan to write poems for most of the pictures:
On Her Patio
An apartment love affair.
I haven’t called.
She bangs on my door.
I am in my boxers hung-over.
I grab a pair of shorts and open the door.
It’s a huge white stork or egret,
she shouts,
come quick!
We go to see it,
but when she opens the door,
the patio is empty.
It’s gone.No matter.
She apologizes,
offers me juice,
then makes some excuse to sit on my knee.
She is warm in her housecoat.Later that afternoon,
she still swears it was really there, really.
No matter.
She is warm in her housecoat.
