“Mother Child Read” contemporary figurative art
“Mother Child Read” is part of a series of paintings I am doing based loosely on snapshots I made at a Saturday afternoon concert in the Decatur Square. Most of my snapshots were of little kids dancing around together in a circle, half skipping, half playing chase, but some of my favorite shots were of mothers with their children.
I’m developing more of an intuition about how to use models to inform compositions that are largely derived from the imagination. I am also getting a grasp on how to layer my paints based on their relative transparency or opacity. From the very beginning, I knew that these two issues were the key to creating the type of images I wanted to paint. I am very excited about the projects I have planned.
