Some people say Halloween is a morbid holiday because it was once the Celtic feast of the dead.
Actually that’s not true. Halloween isn’t about the dead. In fact, Halloween is the only holiday that is about the living. All the others are about seeing old relatives or obligations or commemorating dead people or the past. Halloween is about the only holiday there is where you don’t see people getting stressed out or having anxiety about obligations or expectations. At Halloween, there aren’t any obligations. You aren’t even obligated to take it seriously or participate. But you can do things like dress up as a Christmas tree and walk up to the cutest little witch at the party and say things like, “You know, once you go Douglas Fir, you never go back…”
