“Junebug Night” pen and ink drawing
Junebugs are big clumsy beetles that buzz around streetlights in the spring and early summer. They are always crash-landing onto porches and rolling around on their backs until something gets them. I used to leave the back porch light on and watch the tote frogs eat so many they could barely hop away. That was my entertainment growing up in the Mississippi Delta.
Some people pray for the President. I pray for rainy springs, warm June nights and fat tote frogs.
