“Sacred River Alph” contemporary paper collage art
The Pleasure Dome. I think I’m going to start calling the studio “The Pleasure Dome.” It’s a tiny room overloaded with racks and racks of paint, mosaic tile, scrap paper, old books, junk, etc. The floor is ankle deep in stuff. Ox, Alph, and the iconic origins of the Phoenician alphabet as shorthand for Egyptian glyphs. Some Semitic scribe just couldn’t didn’t have the time to embellish the characters, and it made more sense to him to stick to the ones that made the sounds of his language. It’s funny how technology can take a leap when it is appropriated and modified as needed.
